What should the Eurovision guests know about their rights in Ukraine?

Eurovision is the celebration of music, international communication. It brings pleasant emotions and new positive impressions. Every year fans of the Eurovision have the possibility not only replenish their music collection with new European hits, but visit some new (perhaps exotic) country. This week Ukraine opens its doors to more than 20 thousand foreign guests of the Contest. 

In order to fully enjoy the Eurovision and have a good time in Kyiv, one shall first of all follow and obey the laws of Ukraine.

What the guests of the Eurovision 2017 shall know and remember?
  • guests (foreigners) coming to Ukraine in accordance with visa-free regime are able to stay in the territory of Ukraine up to 90 days, EXCEPT citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia who may stay up to 30 days.
  • If prior to entering Ukraine you obtained a visa, you can stay in Ukraine until the last day of validity of visa.
  • In case of violation of the permitted period of stay in Ukraine (whether it be 90 days or the period allowed by the visa), you are administratively liable and, leaving the country, you will have to pay a fine.
while staying legally in Ukraine (whether with visa or during 90-days visa-free regime) a foreigner is entitled to:
  • get tax-payer’s ID and open a bank account
  • establish and open his/her own company or enterprise
  • get married (within 1 day)
  • get employed in any Ukrainian company
  • acquire / buy real estate or other property
  • become a volunteer in any NGO.

Ukraine is free open country that can offer many opportunities to foreign guests. Here you can feel true hospitality, sincere kindness, adherence to the principles of tolerance and mutual respect. The main rule - do not violate public order and comply with the laws - that is the key to a pleasant pastime in Ukraine.

The 62th Eurovision song contest will take place in Kyiv from 9th to 13th of May. Contestants from more than 40 countries will take part in it. The 9th and the 11th of May saw the Semi-Finals and the Gran Final will take place on the 13th of May at the International Exhibition Centre. More than 20 thousand foreign guests are going to attend this the most expected music event.
